B.I.B.L.E.

The Good Book, the BIBLE... something I need to read more and actually stick with it. Times seem pretty dark and lonely for me lately and I can't get over choices I made and still make, the past eats my desires and dreams like a hungering spirit seeks someone to haunt. Back to the book, I was listening to a song the other night by Burlap to Cashmere, a band not often heard of but are known for great lyrics and a beautiful voice from the lead singer. The song was called Basic Instructions. The first words were:
B
asic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
I've heard this song many times and never noticed the significance of those first words and the acronym they possessed until this last time I listened to the song played. How true is that though, really, the Bible is our instruction manual. Time for me to read more of it and have God lead my life because I definitely cannot do this alone, no matter how alone I truly feel. Seek comfort in the Lord. My life is an offering to him because he gave his son's life for me.

Sam, your statement about being in a dark place made me think of a line of reasoning I have been playing with in my head. Here it is...something to ponder at least. I believe that God did not make us to live in the realms of "if only..." or "what if..." We can't know what tomorrow brings and won't be given what we need to deal with tomorrow until it is here. Likewise, we aren't meant to live our lives looking in the rear view mirror. The rear view mirror is small and doesn't show all the details...it is so easy to look at the past through rose colored glasses. What ifs are tricky, we think if we could go back and change things everything would be better. But, we don't know that. We could have had to face even worse results. God created us to live in today, not tomorrow and, not yesterday. So, we put it all in His hands. Listen for his direction and take a step in faith. Move forward. This step doesn't have to be a deciding factor in what your entire life will be. It is just one step and you can always change direction. Life is a journey, and we learn and grow along the way. Just a few thoughts that I have played with in my own life.
